History
The
Conflicts of the Ocean
To the Sea King, humans can assume
two opposite positions, they can be his best
allies, or they can be his worst enemies. The
reason for that is that humans are the only
life-form that can get close to having as much
intelligence as him, as he is also part human.
Because of that, Ryu-jin has many conflicts with
ordinary humans, as they are the main cause of
the pollution of the lakes, rivers, and the
ocean.
Because of this, many battles took place between
the Kingdoms of the Lands and the Kingdom under
the Sea, Ryugu. Enraged, the Sea King started
flooding entire cities, but not even with that
humans stopped. The situation started getting
worse when humans started to learn how to use
magic and with that ability the destruction they
could do was much more intense.
Worried about the fate of that conflict, Ryu-jin
called for the aid of the Beach-god Isora, the
Spirit of the Seashore. She a very beautiful
woman, a water nymph, and arrived in the
underwater palace with great ideas. While at the
shores, she noticed many lonely humans walking by
the water, looking for love. These people would
be the aid to the Sea King, but with their
ordinary forms of life, they could not live under
the water. For that, Isora proposed that they
would gain sea-life form, and from that emerged
the very first Mermen and Mermaids.
The humans selected to become Merfolk had to have
a pure heart of yang, in harmony with life, and
had to agree to give up their old habits to live
a long lifetime in the kingdom of underwater. Not
satisfied with just the intentions of the chosen,
Isora would only chose the ones who would could
match her beauty, so they could give a better
impression to the Sea King. For that, all mermen
and mermaids are noticed to be extremely
beautiful, but this fascination with the image
turned some women to start faking their emotions
to attempt to become a mermaid.
Some of these women did become mermaids, but they
weren't good enough for it, as their heart wasn't
pure yang. These mermaids used their beauty for
evil ways, and started frightening the humans of
surface. Noticing the bad reputation of these
mermaids, the Sea Dragon King banished them all
from Ryugu. The banned mermaids were called
Sirens, who started living separated in the many
deeps of the ocean, but they developed a good way
to communicate between themselves. They would
sing all day, to make their voices louder and
easier for identification. The singing didn't
stop there, they started using their beautiful
voice to call upon humans and cause even more
chaos.
With the disorder caused by the Sirens, Ryu-jin
had no choice but to send Isora back to the
seashore and to stop transforming good humans
into mermaids. Because of the rage against the
Sirens, the humans started polluting the rivers
and seas even more, the power of the Dragon King
lowered and he became ill.
The finest physician was brought from surface to
try to aid the Sea King; unfortunately he wasn't
able to do much for him. The King's power had
drained too much. He would only survive by being
fed a strange young root, which was impossible to
find under the sea.
The aid of the humans was needed again, for that
the most loyal messenger of Dragon King was sent
to surface to get the aid of humans on collecting
such root. His name was Chu-Rua.
For a long time humans have been aiding Chu-Rua
to restore the health of the Sea King. His powers
came back with time, but the feeding of the root
never stopped being necessary. Ryu-jin had to
find another way to get humans to aid the oceans,
against the other humans....
